October 27, 2006, Newsletter Issue #19: Motorcycle Saddlebags

Tip of the Week

The motorcycle saddlebags of today are nothing like the saddlebags made previously. They are now constructed with soft fabric, making them light to transport, but spacious enough to hold all of your belongings.

Usually motorcycle saddlebags are made in a variety of sizes, making it possible for almost anyone to find the right size for their motorbike. It is best to be aware of the compatibility between the size of the motorcycle, and the size of the motorcycle saddlebag. The saddlebag will have to be on the back of the motorcycle, and must fit properly to do so.

Other than the size of the motorcycle saddlebag, the bag should be chosen in a fabric durable enough for traveling. Motorcycle saddlebags are usually made of cotton, polyester, or leather, which can either be filled from the sides, or from the top of the saddlebag.

Some people prefer the zippers to be located to the side to have easier access to everything, whereas a saddlebag with the zipper to the top will hold everything without spilling, but will allow less access to items to the bottom of the bag. Where the zippers are located will depend on personal preference.
